Monitor Atlantic development areas before a storm receives a name. Use the NHC seven-day outlook for formation potential, then move to the live hurricane tracker when NHC begins issuing cyclone advisories.
The map uses NHC development probabilities. Colored regions identify where a tropical cyclone could form, not where an eventual storm would travel or cause impacts.
Current named Atlantic systems: none. Pacific systems are listed on the all-basin live tracker. Feed checked 2026-10-14T09:02:29.917Z.

Tropical Depression

Hurricane FAQ
What is a tropical disturbance?
A tropical disturbance is an area of organized tropical weather that may or may not develop into a tropical cyclone. It is not automatically a depression, named storm, or hurricane.
Does an NHC outlook area show where a storm will travel?
No. An outlook area shows where development could occur during the outlook period. It is not a forecast cone, storm track, warning area, or impact boundary.
What is an Invest?
An Invest is a numbered system used by operational weather centers to organize additional data collection and model analysis. Not every disturbance receives an Invest number, and not every Invest becomes a named storm.
Where can I track a disturbance after it is named?
Once NHC lists a named tropical cyclone, open its HurricaneHub named-storm page and verify all forecasts and watches with the official NHC advisory.
